Severe Heartburn or Reflux
Gastroesophageal Reflux
Gastroesophageal reflux is a physical condition in which acid from the stomach flows backward up into the esophagus. People will experience heartburn symptoms when excessive amounts of acid reflux into the esophagus. While many of us experience occasional heartburn, experiencing frequent heartburn (two or more times a week) may be associated with a more severe problem known as gastroesophageal reflux disease or GERD.

Symptoms
Common symptoms of GERD are:
- Burning discomfort in upper abdomen
- Bitter sour taste of acid in throat
- Pressure or pain behind the breastbone
- Increase in saliva
- Bad breath
