What Is Dysphagia?
Dysphagia is a disorder in which it is difficult for you to swallow food or liquids. Dysphagia can have associated pain and in extreme cases, the esophagus will not be able to swallow anything at all.
If you’re experiencing occasional difficulty swallowing food or liquids, make sure that you are chewing your food well enough or drinking smaller portions of liquid to aid in swallowing. Symptoms of dysphagia may include:
- Pain while swallowing
- Difficulty swallowing
- Feeling like food is stuck in your esophagus or chest
- Excessive saliva build-up and drooling
- Regurgitation of food and liquids
