1. What is the Living Matrix?

Addressing years of nutrition, lifestyle, genetics, and environment can be extensive and complex.  Due to the extensive, complex nature of functional medicine, recommendations can be vast or even overwhelming at times.  This is where the Living Matrix comes into play.  Within 48 business hours of your appointment, all recommendations, informational handouts, etc. will be uploaded into your Living Matrix portal for review.

2. Is my insurance accepted?

Insurance companies do not cover functional medicine appointments.  However, they will usually pay for a small portion.  For this reason the appointment cost is collected before your appointment.  We then attempt to get the maximum coverage each plan allows and this amount will be credited to your account for any future services or products purchased in-office.

Depending upon your specific disease, situation, and desire to aggressively stop and reverse disease; we may recommend and you may choose to complete state-of-the-art testing that is not always covered by all insurances. Additionally, you may request visits and coaching that goes beyond your insurance allowances.  We can help you understand these situations.  Our practice believes that an aggressive investment in yourself for a year is a small cost to reversing years of disease progression and obtaining a much healthier and lower future healthcare cost.

3. Will my medical insurance pay for lab testing?

Several testing options are covered depending on the type of insurance plan you have. The best way to find out is to contact your insurance company to check and provide them with the lab contact information.  However, we also use very detailed, state-of-the-art functional tests that insurance companies do not cover.  The recommended use of these are determined on each patient’s specific needs.

4. Is there a payment program?

We currently accept Visa, Master Card, American Express and Discover.  Full payment in advance prior to your scheduled appointment is required.  However, in select cases, we can help establish a payment plan depending on your balance due.  We also offer a concierge-tailored approach that fits your specific situation and desires based on discussion that can define the costs over a period of time.

5. How long will it take until my lab results are ready?

Turnaround time for laboratory testing varies from 2 weeks to 5 weeks upon receipt of your specimen sent to their respective laboratories. Your follow up appointments are scheduled when labs have been received and reviewed.

6. Can I get my own supplements?

In many cases yes, but you need to understand:

  1. In some cases we may recommend something that is not readily available over-the-counter.
  2. Supplement quality is highly variable and must be independently tested for quality, accuracy, purity of ingredients, etc.  With our recommended sources, we have done this for you.  Simply ordering off of Amazon the same brand name, does not mean you are getting the true and tested brand, product that’s not expired, etc.
  3. Once recommendations are made by provider supplements can be obtained by 3 different routes.
    • Ordering on Fullscripts
    • Coming into the office to purchase where we offer a return bottle discount of 10% for patients.
    • Or recommended brand over the counter supplements

You will be made aware as to where your recommendations can be obtained by the provider and/or the medical assistant. Having guaranteed high-quality therapeutics enables our clinicians to expect quality therapeutic results and are assured the products aren’t contaminated with harmful substances that worsen health status.
